NSW Health Pathology are seeking two experience Medical Laboratory Technicians to join our team at Westmead Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an experience Technical Officer to showcase their skills and knowledge within these disciplines.
Westmead Haematology Laboratory is a busy, fast paced 24/7 laboratory that provides support to more than 28 laboratories/hospitals. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care through collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. What you'll be doing
Perform a broad range of diagnostic tests across Haematology, Coagulation, and Morphology using both manual and automated methods, in line with established procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. To ensure the efficient operation of the Haematology laboratory by accurately processing specimens and analysing results, including carrying out routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and completing quality control activities. Provide technical support while adhering to laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.

- Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to Haematology or medical laboratory operations
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a Haematology, Coagulation and/or Morphology department.
- Demonstrated experience with the use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff
- Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills including an ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
