About the opportunity
Want to work in a world class Microbiology Laboratory? This recruitment is sourcing for both temporary and permanent Full Time and Part Time Technical Assistants at the NSW Health Pathology Microbiology laboratory, in Liverpool Hospital. This laboratory provides Microbiology services to several hospitals within the South West Sydney Local Health District including Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, Bankstown, Camden and Bowral hospitals, using state-of-the-art in automation technology and digital bacteriology.
This shift position is key to the continued provision of high class 24 hour, 7 days per week Microbiology services, and as such will be required to work within a rotating roster with other scientific and technical assistant staff to cover out of hour’s services. This position provides an opportunity to enter the clinical Microbiology industry.

What you'll be doing
Provide technical, operational, and administrative support to scientific and senior laboratory staff, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and safe daily operations of the microbiology laboratory.

- Certificate III in Pathology Collections, or Pathology Assistance and/or previous experience a pathology setting or a demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the pre analytical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment where there are competing priorities and time constraints.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, internal and external.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues.
- Willingness to operate and maintain pre analytical equipment as required.
- Proficient computer skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in a laboratory setting, following relevant legislation, policies, and requirements.
- Willingness to participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts, and the ability to travel to any site or location within the operational area as required.
