About the opportunity

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare community? We're looking for an experienced Technical Assistant to join our dynamic team at the Byron Central Hospital Collection Centre on a Permanent Part-Time basis.

In this role, you will be a key member of our team, bringing your hands-on expertise in collections. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking a flexible work schedule with 4-hour shifts, 5 days a week, with the option to negotiate hours. You may also have the opportunity to work at other locations with prior notice, adding variety to your experience.

What you'll be doing

Perform a range of laboratory support and/or specimen reception services and/or collection services, and provide assistance to laboratory staff, under supervision, to deliver a patient focused service.

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all aspects of the Pre / Post analytical laboratory environment, including specimen reception and phlebotomy collections in ward and outpatient setting.
  2. Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality work output while managing competing priorities
  3. Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, preferably in a laboratory environment, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical staff
  4. Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues within the laboratory environment
  5. Excellent data entry skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy
  6. Awareness of legislation, policies and requirements relevant to a laboratory setting
