About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Maternal Child and Family Aboriginal Health Manager to join our Aboriginal Health & Wellbeing team at Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
In this senior leadership role, you will provide effective strategic and operational management for the successful delivery of the Aboriginal Maternal Infant Health Service (AMIHS) and the Building Strong Foundations for Aboriginal Children, Families and Communities (BSF) program. You will lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of Midwives, Child and Family Health Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs) and Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs) to deliver culturally appropriate care to pregnant Aboriginal women and families across the MLHD.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing staff and the implementation and reporting requirements of the AMIHS and BSF programs
Driving achievement of targets in the MLHD Aboriginal Strategic Plan, Closing the Gap KPIs, NSW Aboriginal Health Plan and MLHD Aboriginal Business Plan
Ensuring service delivery is practical, culturally appropriate, accessible and acceptable to Aboriginal individuals, families and communities
Managing ongoing consultation, collaboration and communication strategies to support effective program delivery
Representing AMIHS on relevant MLHD committees and working parties under the First 2000 Days Implementation Plan
Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Aboriginal women receive woman-centred, culturally appropriate antenatal care
Participating in relevant state-wide forums.
About You
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Relevant experience in program management and leading organisational change, with a demonstrated understanding of the needs of Aboriginal mothers, babies, children and families
Demonstrated experience in program and service delivery including implementation and evaluation, working with Aboriginal organisations and communities
High-level communication, interpersonal, written and computer skills
Proven ability to manage effective collaboration and communication with internal and external key stakeholders
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and promoting team wellbeing and safe working environments
Vaccination Category A compliance
Current NSW Class C driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including driving long distances within the District and overnight stays

Applicants will be asked to address two one-page responses: (1) How you have used your experience and understanding of current Aboriginal health priorities to change outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities, and (2) your experience in program and service delivery working with Aboriginal organisations and communities.
