Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) is a leading provider of health services across Northern Sydney. The District is currently seeking a Management Accountant to join the Finance team at Northern Beaches Hospital.

Where you'll be working:
Northern Beaches Hospital - Finance Team.

What you'll be doing:
The Management Accountant will work in close collaboration with the hospital Finance and Performance Manager to provide expert financial advice, support, and guidance in a range of areas including financial management, performance monitoring and identifying efficiency improvement strategies and revenue opportunities across a large number of departments. Stakeholders will include staff at all levels within Northern Beaches Hospital and the Local Health District Finance team.
A well supported role, the Management Accountant will join a broader team of 5 and report directly to the Finance and Performance Manager.

Key Responsibilities will include:
• Under the direction of the Finance and Performance Manager, manage all day-to-day management
accounting activities within allocated portfolios. Prepare monthly forecasts and financial performance reports.
• Provide advice, technical support, information and data to support best practice financial management to
Department Managers and Cost Centre Managers.
• Effectively business partner with allocated divisions/portfolio. This includes accurate
& timely reporting, budget to actual variance analysis, resolution of unexplained variances and providing
decision support.
• Assistance in the development of business cases, plans and briefs and analysis of risk items.
• Build annual budget for the assigned portfolios with the cost centre managers.
• Provide accurate financial and variance analysis reporting within short timeframes.
• Provide analysis, journal submission and reporting of specific expenditure and/or revenue items as
required.
• Provide decision support for relevant directors and business unit managers.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly reporting packs and reports to the Local Health District.
• Contribute to savings & efficiency initiatives.
• Proactively identify and implement process improvement.
• Provide strategic advice to the senior members of the organisation. This includes preparing business
cases and briefs with recommendation and supporting analysis.
• Undertake ad hoc tasks as and when required by the Hospital Executive and the LHD District Finance management team.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: 

 

  1. A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce and/or meet the requirements to be a member of a recognised Australian professional accounting body or have extensive experience in management accounting.
  2. Demonstrated excellent analytical skills and capacity to interpret financial and non-financial data.
  3. Experienced advanced user of MS Excel and ERP system to produce complex data analytic and able to provide recommendation.
  4. Experience in a large complex organisation and good understanding of activity based costing (management).
