About the role:
This is an exciting new role within the JMO Unit, offering the successful candidate the unique opportunity to help shape and grow the position. You’ll have real scope to streamline processes, introduce innovative solutions, and enhance support for Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) and the wider medical administration team, with your input highly valued in embedding the role into the future structure of Medical Services.
As a JMO Support Officer, you will:
- Coordinate and support education, recruitment, onboarding, and training for JMOs and International Medical Graduates.
- Serve as a key point of contact for JMOs regarding leave, pastoral care, and administrative enquiries.
- Provide high-level administrative and secretariat support for JMO committees and meetings.
- Assist with rostering and leave management in consultation with the JMO Manager.
- Support orientation activities and term change processes.
- Build strong relationships with JMOs, Term Supervisors, senior clinicians, and the University of Newcastle – Department of Rural Health.
- Contribute to process improvement and innovation within the JMO Unit.
This role provides valuable leadership exposure, working closely with the JMO Manager Acting, Team Leader – Medical Administration, Medical Administration Manager, and hospital executives. It is also a stepping stone for future managerial opportunities, including leave relief for the JMO Manager.
The role is dynamic and fluid, operating on a standard roster of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, while requiring adaptability for occasional early starts at 7:30 am during term changes or orientations. Minor travel may be required - typically one day a fortnight at Wingham Hospital, just 15 minutes from Manning Base. On-the-job training will be provided, and experience with JMOs or recruitment systems such as ROB is highly regarded.
