Where you will be working:
The John Hunter Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a dynamic 29-bed unit serving the Hunter New England Local Health District and the Mid North Coast. Co-located with a 7-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Organ and Tissue Donation Service, and The Hunter Retrieval Service, our ICU is a hub of excellence, innovation, and professional growth.
With ongoing expansion, we are preparing for the 2026 launch of the John Hunter Hospital and Innovation Precinct, which will feature a state-of-the-art ICU with over 50 beds and a dedicated 10-bed PICU.
About the Role:
As the ICU/PICU Quality Manager at John Hunter Hospital, you will lead the Quality and Safety Portfolio within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Your role will focus on ensuring the highest standards of patient care through continuous improvement and accreditation activities.
Key responsibilities include:
✅ Reviewing and analysing clinical incidents (IMS, London Protocols, RCAs) to drive meaningful quality improvements
✅ Coordinating and monitoring quality improvement initiatives within the ICU/PICU
✅ Supporting accreditation activities to maintain compliance with National Standards
✅ Preparing and facilitating the ICU/PICU Clinical Quality and Patient Care (CQPC) meetings
✅ Collaborating with clinical teams to enhance patient safety and care standards
About You
- Passionate about healthcare quality and safety
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure
- Experience in ICU settings (highly desirable)
