Join our Business Co-ordination Unit within Health Protection, NSW for an exciting short-term Temporary employment opportunity up to 31 March 2026. 

  
HPNSW works closely with NSW public health units in preventing, reducing, and controlling communicable diseases and environmental health risks, and improving health equity in NSW through targeted and long-term programs. 
 

The Business Coordination Unit provides strategic advice and corporate governance support. The Unit coordinates central business processes across HPNSW, including finance and human resources, and provides high-level support to HPNSW meetings. 
  

About the role:  

The Project Officer plays a crucial role in assisting the business operations for Health Protection NSW to support the branch’s efficient and effective operations. In conjunction with the Senior Business Officer, the role supports business operational matters including finance, procurement, governance and reporting compliance.  

This position may also be required to support other Health Protection priorities to meet business needs.  
 

Health Manager level 2 salary ranges from $109,857 - $129,624 plus Superannuation, with a 38-hour work week. 

  

What you’ll be doing  

The role: 

  • Supports HPNSW teams to review and monitor contracts or programs and maintain/update contracts register 

  • Contributes to capability building activities including coordinating training, monthly business/finance meetings 

  • Contributes to development of standard operating procedures, templates and standardised processes 

  • Assists the Senior Business Officer contributing to efficient, effective, and ethical management of finance and staff resources. 

  • Supports Senior Business Officer with timely and accurate forecasting including scrutinising for actuality. 
      

About you:  
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:

  • Relevant experience in business management, finance, and procurement, or equivalent work experience. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and appropriately to a range of audiences. 

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret information and prepare clear, well-structured correspondence, reports, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong document formatting and editing skills. 

  • Experience in reporting, planning, and evaluation at strategic and service levels (desirable).
