About the Opportunity
As a GIPA & Privacy Officer of our Legal, Data Governance, Privacy & Policy Team within SDPRIA, you will assist in promoting a culture of upholding rights under access to information and privacy legislation within the Single Digital Patient Record program, stakeholders and across the NSW health system. The role primarily will support the SDPRIA’s Senior Privacy Officer with the development of documentation, policies, procedures, governance and incident management reporting procedures to assist with compliance under privacy and information access legislation.
This role also offers the opportunity to support the Senior Privacy Officer with monitoring and responding to applications for access to information including calls for papers made under Standing Order 52 of the NSW Legislative Council and subpoenas. The GIPA & Privacy Officer will also assist the Senior Privacy Officer in responding to privacy and information access related complaints and internal reviews, assessing reported data breach incidents, undertaking privacy impact assessments, monitoring broader information access and privacy risks across the SDPR program and promoting training and education to relevant staff in line with legislative requirements.
In this role, you will:
Investigate complaints and conduct regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with privacy and information access legislation.
Deliver engaging training and develop guidance materials to support best practice across the organisation.
Advise on complex or sensitive matters, identifying risks and recommending effective mitigation strategies.
Manage timely responses to requests, internal reviews, complaints and data breaches and contribute to clear, accurate documentation and governance.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
Appropriate qualifications in law, governance or information technology and/or experience in anyone of the following: public and administrative law, privacy, data breach incident response, information access or freedom of information.
Proven capacity to be collaborative, manage and meet competing deadlines as well as proactively engage and effectively communicate with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate documentation and correspondence in line with legislative requirements.
