What you'll be doing
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll ensure the reliability and compliance of all mechanical systems, plant, and equipment through proactive maintenance and timely repairs.

  • Perform reactive and planned maintenance to minimise disruptions to patient care

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, legislative, and code requirements

  • Respond to work requests using AFM Online and manage priorities effectively

  • Participate in after-hours emergency maintenance and support other WSLHD facilities when required

  • Provide technical advice and assistance to contractors during installations and commissioning

Essential Criteria:

 

  • Qualification: Mechanical Fitter TAFE qualification 

 

Selection Criteria:

 

  1. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and successfully undertake work in a busy, dynamic role with a minimum of supervision, This position will require 12 hour shift coverage in the Building Maintenance Centre (BMC) on a rotating roster as and when required. This also extends to assisting all facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District as requested.

  2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of a wide range of industrial systems, processes and automated equipment (example: steam plant, reticulated fluids and gases, washing and sterilising equipment, food production equipment, heat exchangers, pumps and valves) and ability to fault find and carry out repairs in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

  3. Proven fitting, machining and welding experience in a maintenance environment, experience with steam boilers and related plant, superior diagnostics abilities.

  4. Demonstrated knowledge of software programs (eg: Word, Excel, Outlook).

  5. The ability to maintain stock and workflow in a Mechanical Fitter's workshop.

  6. Valid NSW Drivers Licence& be willing to use it for work purposes.
