Are you a qualified Mechanical Fitter looking to gain valuable experience in a dynamic healthcare setting? This 3-month temporary full-time role at John Hunter Hospital could be the perfect opportunity to showcase your skills and open doors for future employment!

Join the Fitting Department at John Hunter Hospital, where you'll be responsible for reactive breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, and general fitting work across the plant areas of a large health facility.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Fitter in our Engineering Department, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing essential hospital infrastructure, ensuring smooth operations across the facility. You will:

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on air conditioning units, pumping systems, and metalwork.
  • Repair and maintain critical hospital equipment, including patient beds, IV poles, trolleys, and wheelchairs.
  • Work as part of a skilled 51-member engineering team, collaborating with fellow tradespeople and specialists.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently in a hospital environment.

About You

We’re looking for a hands-on professional who:

  • Holds a TAFE Trades Certificate in Fitting and Machining or Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Has experience in air-handling equipment, pumping systems, and machining (lathes & mill drills).
  • Possesses welding skills (gas & electric).
  • Can work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Is eligible to drive in NSW and willing to assist with on-call duties if required.
