Are you an experienced finance professional ready to contribute to high-quality health services across a large and complex organisation? Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a dedicated Finance Manager to support operational excellence and drive informed decision-making within HNE Operations.

About the Role

In this key position, you’ll work closely with the Senior Finance Manager to implement consistent, efficient, and improved finance processes across the network. You will provide expert financial support to service-based finance managers and operational teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust business analysis, and strong governance.

This role plays a vital part in supporting executive leadership with financial insights, business case assessments, forecasting, budgeting, and strategies that enhance performance and resource utilisation

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver timely, accurate and relevant management information to support effective decision-making.

  • Provide professional financial advice, helping identify issues and implement solutions that improve performance.

  • Prepare and maintain reliable budget, forecast and cost data.

  • Support savings strategies through effective FTE management, procurement opportunities, and improved business practices.

  • Partner with service-based finance teams and District Financial Services to meet internal and external reporting requirements.

  • Contribute to the assessment of business cases, funding requests and financial impacts.

  • Model HNE Health values, uphold confidentiality, and promote a culture of safety, respect, and excellence.

 

About You

You are a proactive and analytical finance professional with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders—from frontline managers to executives. You thrive in complex, fast-paced environments and can confidently apply your financial expertise to support business performance and organisational priorities.

What You Bring

  •  Relevant tertiary qualifications and membership (or progress toward membership) of a professional accounting body.

  • Experience developing activity and budget targets, including analysing complex operational drivers.

  • Strong skills in financial statement analysis, variance reporting and projection development.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across clinical and operational teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and deliver strategic financial advice.

  • Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet strict deadlines.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and financial software tools
