Achieve Something Great
South Western Sydney Local Health District’s Staying Safe in Community Directorate (PARVAN) offers a rewarding opportunity for an experienced and culturally grounded Senior Aboriginal Health Worker to make a meaningful difference for Aboriginal children, young people and families impacted by violence, abuse and neglect. This full‑time, permanent role sits across two critical services, the Child Protection Counselling Service and the Sexual Assault Service, and is primarily based at Liverpool and Hoxton Park Community Health Centres, with outreach across the Dharawal, Gundungurra and Darug Nations. In this role, you will embed Aboriginal cultural values such as connection to Country, community, family, spirituality and identity into everyday practice, ensuring services are culturally safe, respectful and holistic. You will engage with local Elders, Aboriginal organisations and community members to strengthen trust, build partnerships and support early access to care, while contributing to health promotion, prevention and community education initiatives that support healing, safety and wellbeing for Aboriginal families across South Western Sydney.
Are You the Right Fit?
You are a skilled and experienced Aboriginal Health Worker who brings deep cultural knowledge, strong community connections and a commitment to culturally safe, strengths‑based practice. You have the ability to provide psycho‑social support, case management and advocacy in culturally meaningful ways for Aboriginal children, young people and families affected by violence, abuse and neglect. You are confident working across multidisciplinary teams and services, offering cultural consultation and leadership while mentoring and supporting other Aboriginal Health Workers. You value collaboration, community engagement and continuous improvement, and are motivated to shape services that reflect the resilience, strengths and unique cultural needs of Aboriginal people, supported by professional development, cultural supervision and peer support within SWSLHD.
