Where you will be working:
Maitland Hospital’s Day Stay Unit is part of the Lower Hunter Sector within Hunter New England Health. Our facility delivers a broad range of services across Medical, Surgical, Mental Health, Dental, Renal, Maternity, and Child Health. We are home to one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country. The hospital includes six operating theatres and a dedicated scope theatre, supporting surgical procedures in General Surgery, Endoscopy, ENT, Paediatrics, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and both elective and trauma Orthopaedics.




About the Role:

As an Enrolled Nurse in the Day Stay Unit, you will play an essential role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. You will:

  • Deliver and assist in the assessment, planning, organisation, and evaluation of nursing care to achieve the best clinical outcomes for each patient.

  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with patients, clients, and their families to identify needs, provide information, and support informed decision-making.

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless and safe care from admission to discharge.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation in line with legislative and clinical standards.

  • Advocate for patients and support their understanding of health care processes and treatments.



What We’re Looking For:

  • Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed where applicable) with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting is essential.

  • A strong interest in day surgery or theatre nursing – ideal for someone looking to get their foot in the door.

  • Someone who is confident in advocating for themselves and comfortable speaking up when they have questions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
