About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for an Enrolled Nurse with an interest in foot health to join the Moree Community Health team as a Foot Care Nurse. This role sits within a supportive, multidisciplinary community health environment, working alongside nursing and allied health staff, with access to a visiting podiatry service.
The Foot Care Nurse provides preventative foot care services to support the health, comfort and wellbeing of our community, with a strong focus on older people and health promotion.
About the Role
Working within your scope of practice, you will provide basic foot care services including:
- Cutting and filing of non-pathological toenails (minor, asymptomatic onychomycosis accepted)
- Removal of superficial or asymptomatic callus and debris from interdigital areas
- Foot hygiene practices
- Application of moisturising agents
- Education relating to foot health, preventative care, and appropriate footwear selection
You will work independently while being well supported through mentoring, shadowing with the current Foot Care Nurse, education sessions with visiting podiatrists, and the opportunity to undertake placement experience with a foot care team at another site.
About You
You will be a motivated and compassionate Enrolled Nurse who:
- Holds current registration with AHPRA as an Enrolled Nurse
- Has completed an accredited and approved face-to-face Basic Foot Care course (minimum one day, including skills and competency components), or is willing to complete required training
- Has completed aseptic technique training
- Enjoys working with older people and in a community setting
- Is able to work independently and manage their own workload
- Has experience as a Foot Care Nurse or has completed the required training (desirable)
