About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists to join our newly established, patient-centred Orthopaedics Unit at The Maitland Hospital. Ward 5A is a dedicated elective surgical Orthopaedic Unit consisting of 10 beds. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated nursing professionals to become part of this progressive team, focused on delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures.

You will be supported by the Transition Support Program, a team of experienced multidisciplinary specialists, and our dedicated Education Team, who will guide your learning and growth in a hospital that values innovation and excellence in care.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering person-centred care, driven to contribute to best practice outcomes, and committed to continual professional development.


Where You Will Be Working:

The Maitland Hospital is a facility that officially opened in January 2022 and is designed to deliver modern, comfortable, and technologically advanced care to patients in the Hunter New England region. The hospital embraces innovation and provides staff with state-of-the-art resources and improved ways of working to enhance health outcomes and support career development.

Maitland is booming in population and opportunity.  The region offers experiences in arts and culture, sport, heritage and indulgences in food, wine and shopping. Being a forty minute drive to the beach or the Hunter Valley wine district and only two hour drive to Sydney it is well placed to offer you a superb lifestyle. Maitland is rich in history with striking architecture and home to a closed gaol that was once home to some of Australia’s most hardened and notorious convicts. There is a selection of public and private schools and with a number of new housing developments.  It is an affordable region that has all the amenities that you need.

Essential Requirements:

  • Enrolled Nurse (Medication Endorsed where applicable) with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
