What you'll be doing 
As a Drug Health Forensic Clinician, you’ll deliver forensic specific clinical services across WSLHD Drug Health. You will assess complex needs, provide individual and group treatment, and contribute to diversion programs that support recovery and reduce reoffending. Your expertise will guide high quality court reporting, crisis response and integrated case management.

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop tailored treatment plans

  • Deliver evidence based counselling and structured interventions

  • Produce high standard, timely court reports and liaise professionally with judicial stakeholders

  • Provide holistic case management with a Closing the Gap focus

  • Respond effectively to crisis, risk, ethical issues, and complex consumer needs

Essential Criteria

  • Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Counsellor, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist or other university qualification deemed equivalent by the employer 

  • Registration: Full registration with AHPRA as Occupational Therapist, Provisional Registration or Full Registration with AHPRA as Psychologist where applicable

 

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualification relevant to Counsellor, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist

  2. Experience undertaking assessments and designing targeted treatment plans for substance use issues and/or mental health needs

  3. Experience working in a counselling role and providing treatment for substance use issues and/or comorbid mental health needs

  4. Ability to work in court related programs with clients who have engaged in offending behaviour

  5. Proven high quality written and verbal communication skills

  6. Prior experience or exposure to crisis and risk situations, as well as challenging client needs

  7. An understanding of the array of psychosocial issues that contribute to substance use problems and capacity to take a holistic approach to treatment

  8. Further skills and characteristics specific to your classification or level as set out in the relevant Award
