We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Level 1/2 Diversional Therapist to join our dedicated team at St George Hospital. Multiple roles are available, offering both full-time and part-time/job-share opportunities, rostered across a 7-day schedule to provide flexibility for a variety of candidates, while also contributing to the collaborative delivery of a seamless 7-day service. 

The successful candidate will commence in March 2026 and work within the Occupational Therapy Aged Care Team, consisting of inpatient OTs, Diversional Therapists. Clinically you will be an integral part of the inpatient Aged Care multi-disciplinary team in the newly established Behavioural Support Unit (BSU), located in the modern Kensington Street Building at St George Hospital. The BSU is dedicated to supporting older people living with dementia, delirium, and other age-related cognitive conditions. Our multidisciplinary team delivers tailored, evidence-based care that promotes comfort, independence, and quality of life. The purpose of the BSU is to stabilise behaviour and safely facilitate the transition of care to an appropriate discharge destination. In addition, you will also have the exciting opportunity to work with patients on the Rehabilitation Unit, providing diversional therapy to support their rehabilitation goals and promote positive behaviour management.

The vision for the Occupational / Diversional Therapy Department at St George Hospital is empowering you to live the life you want through creativity, collaboration and choice. We are a supportive department focused on person-centered, compassionate care. We have a strong focus on clinical and leadership skill development and strive to provide consistent high quality occupational therapy services across the campus. Our department consists of 38 occupational therapists, diversional therapists and support staff, and we work across a variety of inpatient, outpatient and community services. Clinically we provide services to aged care, acute surgical and medical, trauma, neurological, rehabilitation, palliative care, lymphoedema and hands patients. We coordinate a robust student program and provide a variety of professional development opportunities. Selection Criteria

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award; and demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
  2. Demonstrated core competency skills in Diversional Therapy in a health care setting, which includes aged care and rehabilitation populations.
  3. Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills, to both engage patients/clients and work effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
  4. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement in the provision of clinical care using evidence-based practice, commensurate with years of experience.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to the use and application of professional and clinical digital technologies.
  6. Demonstrated participation or leadership in quality improvement processes and teaching, commensurate with years of experience.
  7. Ability to respond to the demands and pressures of the role while managing time effectively.
  8. Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
