What you'll be doing 
As a Dental Assistant Grade 1, you will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth delivery of day-to-day clinical operations while supporting clinicians and student clinicians in providing exceptional oral healthcare. This is a fast-paced and hands-on role requiring excellent organisation, infection control knowledge and a strong focus on patient wellbeing.

·       Prepare dental equipment, instruments and materials for a wide range of oral health procedures

·       Provide chairside clinical support including instrument transfer, moisture control and patient assistance

·       Maintain strict infection control, sterilisation and PPE compliance in line with NSW Health policies

·       Manage accurate data entry, patient documentation and digital record systems

·       Support clinical education, staff orientation, oral health promotion activities and outreach services across WSLHD locations

Essential Criteria:

·       Qualification: Certificate III in Dental Assisting or recognised equivalent/current enrolment in the course. 

 

Selection Criteria: 

1.     Recent, adequate experience as a Dental Assistant.

2.     Demonstrated ability to assist the clinician in a four-handed environment, with a variety of dental procedures including general and specialised care.

3.     Demonstrated ability to perform effective infection control procedures in all aspects of Dental Assisting.

4.     Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in dental charting.

5.     Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.

6.     The ability to work in a large, multidisciplinary team, and be able to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including fellow health care workers and the general public.

7.     Excellent organisational, time-management and problem- solving skills.
