About this role

The Data Engineer plays a critical role in understanding and utilising current and emerging NSW health administrative data systems. The role will explore raw patient administrative data and transform it into structured, meaningful concepts and formats for reporting and analysis.
  

This permanent role involves developing data strategies, designing and coding data processes and pipelines and optimising and improving existing systems. The Data Engineer ensures best practices in data security, quality, integrity, privacy, documentation, and availability. Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and communication are essential as the role involves working closely with data custodians, managers, system owners and end users. 
  

Crown Clerk 9/10, full time permanent role, starting salary from $129,464 - $142,665 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing 
The job will involve working in the Population Health System Analytics team in the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence. It will involve designing new data solutions and undertaking administrative work as part of the team.  
  

About you  
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:   

  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Ability to design, code and build new and well documented information systems.

  • Technical proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Snowflake or SAS and enthusiasm to learn.Effectively translates and synthesises technical complexity for diverse audiences.

  • Ability to collaborate with peers and work in teams
