What you'll be doing
In this impactful role, you will provide expert nursing care and public health advice while leading communicable disease prevention and control initiatives across Western Sydney.
· Investigate and respond to infectious disease notifications, outbreaks and foodborne illnesses
· Deliver evidence-based public health advice to clinicians and community stakeholders
· Implement disease control strategies in line with NSW legislation and guidelines
· Participate in public health research, working groups and continuous improvement initiatives
· Contribute to the after-hours on-call roster and ongoing professional development

Essential Criteria:
· Registration: Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Selection Criteria:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of current issues in communicable disease and experience in communicable disease control
2. Demonstrated recent experience working in Public Health or Infection Control
3. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor other staff
4. Demonstrated organisational and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
5. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
6. Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with the public, Health Professionals, Aged Care Facilities and other stakeholders external to the Public Health Unit
7. Computer literacy including experience with Microsoft Office package and experience with computerised data management systems
