What you'll be doing
The purpose of the Clinical Safety Nurse Specialist position is to:
- Provide senior nursing leadership in clinical safety, quality improvement, and governance activities.
- Apply advanced clinical skills and exercise a high level of autonomy in decision‑making related to patient safety and quality care.
- Support the Clinical Governance and Patient Experience Unit through expert advice, analysis, and recommendations on safety issues and trends.
- Contribute to incident review processes, risk mitigation strategies, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and education to nursing staff to strengthen clinical safety capability across the district.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Nurse Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated skills in computer use and applications such as Windows, word processing and database
- Demonstrated experience providing senior nursing leadership in clinical governance, safety and quality initiatives within a complex health service environment, including the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives that improve patient safety and care outcomes.
