Join the highly skilled Gastroenterology team at Liverpool Hospital and contribute to the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Industry-funded research project. This groundbreaking initiative aims to investigate the impact of integrated psychological interventions within the existing clinic, marking a first for both the Gastroenterology and Psychology Departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver evidence-based psychological interventions for patients with IBD.
- Evaluate and report patient outcomes, contributing to research excellence.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, working closely with gastroenterologists, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Provide psychological support to patients managing chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
- Contribute to clinical innovation, shaping the future of integrated care in gastroenterology.

What You'll be Doing
To deliver specialist psychological and psychosocial assessment, diagnosis, interventions and consultation in order to address the needs of consumers who are living with complex mental health problems and disorders.
The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development
and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role supervises psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, offering a wide range of state-wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. As a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it provides extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics, and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and has a capacity for 877 beds.
The ongoing $830 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is transforming the hospital into a global hub for medical innovation. This redevelopment will expand clinical services, enhance research and teaching facilities, and introduce state-of-the-art equipment and amenities.

- Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent.
- Demonstrated competence in a wide range of psychological assessments and evidence based psychological treatments delivered on an individual and/or group basis
- Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of patient/consumer-focused care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
