The Cancer Care Coordinator plays a vital role in providing information and support, while coordinating the care of patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. This role also involves monitoring patient progress, facilitating effective communication among the multidisciplinary team, and ensuring that patients have a clear understanding of their treatment options and care plans. We are seeking a passionate and motivated Registered Nurse to join the team at Prince of Wales Hospital as a Cancer Care Coordinator, committed to delivering high-quality, person-centered care and supporting individuals diagnosed with cancer throughout their treatment experience.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. What you'll be doing

The primary purpose should outline how the role assists the organisation in achieving its objectives, rather than the tasks it undertakes. The primary purpose is often used as part of the advertisement in the recruitment process. For example: Provide day to day supervision of administrative staff of the Cancer Centre, and evaluate and manage administrative systems and procedures to enable the Oncology department to achieve their objectives in a timely, reliable and efficient manner.   
 
Selection Criteria
 
  1. Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and current NSW Driver’s License (if required by service).
  2. Relevant Post graduate qualifications in Cancer Nursing and at least 3 years recent experience working in the Oncology Clinical area, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues and problem solve through the development and use of clinical management plans
  4. Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Demonstrated skills in the development & facilitation of patient and carer education [and staff as required]
  6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  7. Detailed knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation and evidence of leadership in safety and quality innovation.
  8. Demonstrated competence in the use of health-related information technology.
