About the Opportunity

An exciting temporary full-time opportunity is available for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Newcastle Pharmacotherapy Service team within Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS). Situated in the heart of Newcastle, you will join a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team comprising Registered Nurses, Administration Officers, Medical Officers and a Nurse Unit Manager. In this role, you will work closely with the wider district DACS team to support clients and achieve identified healthcare goals and outcomes. 
You will be supported by a Nurse Unit Manager for day-to-day operations, alongside Medical Officers and other multidisciplinary team members. Comprehensive orientation will be provided upon commencement, with ongoing opportunities to engage in professional development and continue growing your clinical skills and knowledge within a specialised area of practice.

 

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care to clients within the Newcastle region, specialising in opioid substance abuse treatment. You will utilise your advanced clinical skills to assess client needs, develop care plans and make informed decisions regarding treatment and ongoing care. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will support clients through evidence-based care and contribute to positive health outcomes across the service.
This rewarding role will see you applying strong clinical reasoning, communication and problem-solving skills while building therapeutic relationships with clients in a supportive and non-judgemental environment.

Essential requirements:

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services of their specified post-graduate qualification or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
