Where you'll be working

Join the Emergency Department at Maitland Hospital, working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Unit Manager (NUMs) and fellow Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE) to deliver world-class emergency nursing education. You'll collaborate with key stakeholders across HNELHD to align education with the Emergency Nursing Framework, Excellence Framework and evidence-based practice. This dynamic environment offers the perfect platform to shape clinical excellence in a high-volume, fast-paced emergency setting.

About the role

As Clinical Nurse Educator – Emergency Department, you'll champion evidence-based best practice and person-centred care through targeted education programs that optimise emergency nursing outcomes. You'll deliver and evaluate robust education across all Models of Care (including Triage), provide day-to-day clinical supervision at the point of care, support new staff orientation and preceptoring, and facilitate 1:1 coaching, skill development workshops and in-service programs.
You'll identify learning needs, implement education interventions, contribute to clinical policy development, and drive priorities through HNELHD's mentoring and leadership programs – all while creating a safe, supportive learning culture for staff at all experience levels. Reporting to nursing leadership, you'll work across the CNE team to ensure engaging, relevant education that meets individual and departmental needs.

About you

You're a highly motivated emergency nursing expert with extensive ED experience and a passion for clinical education. You create engaging learning environments, adapt teaching to diverse learners, and thrive in high-pressure settings while fostering continuous professional development.

You bring:

  • Current AHPRA registration as Registered Nurse
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications in education OR critical care/emergency nursing
  • Extensive emergency department experience across all Models of Care (including Triage)
  • Proven ability to deliver robust clinical education and facilitate learning
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration
  • Adaptability in teaching styles for diverse learners and high-pressure environments

These skills and qualities will help you excel in shaping Maitland ED's nursing workforce, supported by the NUM team, CNE colleagues and HNELHD education frameworks.
