Prince of Wales Hospital - Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3, Telestroke Service

Join the dynamic team at Prince of Wales Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3 for the NSW Telestroke Service (TSS). This pivotal statewide role provides expert clinical advice and consultancy to TSS referring sites and leads practice development initiatives across NSW.

Working in close partnership with the Prince of Wales Hospital Stroke Department, the TSS host site team, referring site clinicians, and the NSW Telestroke Working Group, you will play a critical role in the standardisation and integration of stroke care across the network.

The Role

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model and promote culture and supporting practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees.

The NSW Telestroke Service (TSS) Clinical Nurse Consultant is a statewide position that provides expert clinical advice and consultancy services to the TSS referring sites. This position will initiate and lead practice development across NSW by providing a range of services and working closely in partnership with the TSS host site team, Prince of Wales Hospital Stroke Department, referring site teams and the NSW Telestroke Working group.

This position is based at Prince of Wales Hospital and mobilised to travel to the TSS referring sites (up to 22 sites) across NSW as required. Playing a key role in the standardisation of practice across the sites, this position works closely with the TSS Nurse Educator to ensure a consistent, well integrated clinical service is delivered.

This position takes responsibility for the clinical supervision of the referring site stroke coordinators and supports the development of and implementation of care management plans for patients with complex health needs.

This position will support the embedding of telehealth technology (from a clinical perspective) and take a lead role in embedding of the Telestroke Model of care across the state. This position works to promote the advancement of clinical practice and initiates collaborative ventures with academic colleagues to influence the future directions of nursing practice in both stroke and telestroke.

This position plays a key role in the evaluation of the NSW Telestroke Service including coordinating case reviews and clinical follow up to assess patient outcomes.
