While operating as part of the wider ED Multi-Disciplinary Team the role is highly autonomous and requires skills in time management, communication, comprehensive mental health assessment, risk assessment, admission and discharge planning, problem solving, and a strong understanding of common medical and drug & alcohol related conditions that often co-occur with mental health needs.

Selection Criteria:
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in a mental health specialty, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
- Sound knowledge and experience of assessing persons within an acute environment
- Demonstrated understanding of nursing processes and their contributions to best practice principles
- Proven clinical leadership skills in within the Mental Health program
- Demonstrated ability to conduct a thorough Mental Health assessment., including formulation and development of immediate management plans and strategies
- Competency in the use of information and communication technology, including standard office software, for email, internet searches, analysis of clinical data, presentations and clinical documentation
- Excellent verbal communication skills and be proficient at documenting the outcome of assessments contemporaneously
