Hawkesbury District Health Service is a teaching hospital in Windsor NSW, providing acute, community and allied health services for the local community and surrounding districts. The service provides 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical, diagnostic, maternity, neonatal, paediatric, palliative, intensive and coronary care service.

This position plays a pivotal role in delivering mental health consultation liaison services, conducting clinical assessments, and offering expert advice to consumers, staff, and other key stakeholders within the hospital’s medical inpatient wards and units. The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 (CNC2) will work in close partnership with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate, and person-centred care.

As a senior nursing professional, the CNC2 provides leadership and expert guidance across all aspects of nursing and midwifery practice, offering strategic recommendations to support safe and effective clinical care. This role also encompasses the development and implementation of policy, the advancement of clinical practice, and active participation in education and research initiatives.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to use same as required for the position
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in Mental Health and post graduate qualifications in Mental Health or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
  3. Evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation with all stakeholders including colleagues, direct reports patients and consumers.
  4. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice
  5. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  6. Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
  7. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning
  8. Ability to apply clinical expertise in patient-centred consultancy with the ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
