About the Role
As Clinical Improvement Officer, you’ll lead the Trauma Death Review and Monitoring Program, manage the ITIM Clinical Review Committee, and work closely with ITIM’s project and data officers to deliver statewide initiatives. You’ll provide high-level policy advice, support strategic planning, and drive evidence-based improvements across adult and paediatric trauma systems.
This role is ideal for someone with senior-level trauma experience, strong project management skills, and a passion for system-wide clinical improvement.

What you will be doing
The ITIM Clinical Improvement Officer, managed within the Trauma Pain and Rehabilitation (TPR) and Clinical Engagement and Operational Programmes (CEOPs) Directorate, supports the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) in enhancing trauma care across NSW by leading the Trauma Death Review and Monitoring Program and managing the ITIM Clinical Review Committee's business. The role collaborates with ITIM Project Officers (Education, Innovation, and Trauma Outcomes Registry and Quality Evaluation - TORQUE) and the Trauma Data Officer to deliver comprehensive services supporting work plans from the Clinical Review, Data Management, Education, Research Advisory, and Trauma Innovation Committees. The officer promotes, develops, implements, and monitors strategic change management programs to improve service delivery in Local Health Districts (LHDs) and Specialty Health Networks (SHNs), including initiatives fostering better integration between general practice and public health services for coordinated chronic care. By providing high-level policy advice, executive support to senior committees, and facilitating quality reviews of trauma system morbidity and mortality data, the role drives evidence-based innovations and system change recommendations across adult and paediatric trauma systems, aligning with the Clinical Excellence Commission (CEC) to amplify key messages.

Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, and extensive senior-level experience in a trauma-related role with provision of professional executive services in a complex healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma scoring systems (e.g., Abbreviated Injury Scoring, Injury Severity Score), quality review processes, and ethical requirements for adult and paediatric trauma systems.
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver statewide initiatives to deadline with limited supervision, ensuring high-quality outcomes and responsiveness to feedback.
- Advanced skills in digital tools (e.g., excel, REDCap, Power BI) to support efficient project operations and data reporting.
- Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and maintain positive working relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement, proactively identifying and addressing business needs to enhance trauma care delivery.
- Highly developed organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deliver timely advice, and exercise judgment and discretion.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, share knowledge, and demonstrate personal accountability, with a strong commitment to learning and cultural competence.
