South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Psychologists to join our inpatient mental health services at Campbelltown, Liverpool and Bankstown Hospitals. If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact in acute mental health and enjoy working in a dynamic, fast paced environment, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high quality care across the District.
We have permanent part time positions available in the Mental Health Units at Campbelltown Hospital (2 days per week), Liverpool Hospital (3 days per week) and Banks House at Bankstown Hospital (2 days per week) (will consider Permanent Full-time). In these roles, you will be supported by a district wide network of psychologist colleagues under the Clinical Psychology Head of Department, while also working closely with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, registrars, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and diversional therapists. You will provide psychological and psychosocial assessment, targeted interventions, diagnostic clarification and behavioural management strategies for consumers experiencing complex presentations such as acute suicide risk, self harm, psychosis, drug and alcohol issues, severe anxiety, depression and challenging behaviours. Opportunities include providing 1:1 therapy, delivering group programs, and offering consultation to the broader team.
The successful applicant will also contribute to evaluating clinical outcomes, participate in the development and delivery of education and training programs, and provide supervision to psychologists or other disciplines where appropriate. We encourage applications from fully registered Clinical Psychologists as well as those who have completed an accredited Master’s degree and are awaiting graduation, or those enrolled in combined Masters/PhD programs who have completed the Master’s equivalent component (supported by a completed PDEC 76 form and university confirmation). Applicants who have completed their Master’s degree requirements and are awaiting full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia will be appointed at Year 2 of the Psychologist scale and progress to Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale upon achieving full registration.

Are You the Right Fit?
We are seeking a dedicated clinician with a Master’s or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and endorsement in the Clinical Psychology area of practice. You will bring strong clinical knowledge and experience delivering evidence based individual and group interventions, ideally within an inpatient setting.You should feel confident working with consumers with severe mental illness and be comfortable in fast paced, high pressure environments where flexibility and adaptability are essential.You will work closely within a multidisciplinary team led by a medical consultant, contributing to assessment, treatment and recovery planning for complex mental health presentations.

- Full Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology or Forensic Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration.
- Describe your experience in conducting clinical, psychometric, and cognitive assessments within a mental health setting. In your response, include an example of your assessment process, the formulation, and use in treatment evaluation.
- Provide an example of a time you delivered evidence-based psychological interventions to a consumer with acute or complex mental health needs. Outline how you exercised independent clinical judgement, collaborated with the multidisciplinary team, and adapted your therapeutic approach to maximise consumer outcomes.
