Clinical Coder - Administration Level 4 - Port Macquarie Base Hospital

You are a highly capable and detail-oriented Clinical Coder with relevant formal qualifications and demonstrated competencies aligned with the HIMAA Clinical Coder National Competency Standards and Assessment Guide. Your strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology enables you to accurately interpret complex clinical documentation and apply coding principles with confidence and precision.

You possess extensive knowledge of clinical coding practices, including the application of Australian Coding Standards and the current edition of the International Classification of Diseases, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM). You consistently demonstrate high levels of coding accuracy and productivity while ensuring compliance with legislative, organisational, and national coding requirements.

You are proficient in the use of Patient Administration Systems such as Cerner and iPM, as well as 3M Codefinder and other coding reference resources. Your ability to effectively navigate multiple systems allows you to efficiently review clinical records, assign appropriate codes, and contribute to the integrity and quality of health information data.

With more than 12 months of clinical coding experience, you have developed a sound understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and Activity Based Funding (ABF). You understand the importance of accurate coding in supporting healthcare funding, performance reporting, and clinical governance, and you apply this knowledge to deliver reliable and meaningful outcomes.

You have well-developed organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and resolve coding queries. Your professional approach fosters positive working relationships and supports the delivery of accurate and compliant coded data.

You are a self-motivated and adaptable professional who can work autonomously while effectively managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines. Your excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to quality, and ability to contribute positively within a team environment make you a valuable member of any Health Information Services department.
