Play a pivotal leadership role and shape the future of Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Services, providing strong clinical and cultural leadership across services.
Work alongside highly committed, multidisciplinary teams and a small team of Aboriginal health professionals who are dedicated to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

About the Opportunity
As the Aboriginal Clinical Lead – Violence, Abuse and Neglect, you will play a vital leadership role, ensuring an Aboriginal world view is embedded across VAN services. You will work closely alongside Aboriginal people and families, while guiding and supporting staff to deliver culturally responsive, trauma‑informed care.
In this role, you will:
Provide clinical leadership, cultural guidance, supervision and mentorship across VAN services.
Support the delivery of culturally safe and trauma‑informed care for Aboriginal children, young people, adults and families.
Strengthen relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders and Aboriginal‑controlled organisations.
Advocate for and support Aboriginal staff, fostering a culturally safe, inclusive and respectful workplace.
Contribute to service planning, interagency collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring Aboriginal voices and perspectives inform practice.
Suggest and implement improvements to the existing cultural safety framework, where appropriate.
This role is suitable for professionals at Level 4, including: Counsellor, Psychologist or Senior Psychologist, Sexual Assault Worker or Social Worker.

About You
We are looking for a culturally grounded Aboriginal leader with clinical expertise. You will have:
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage, confirmed through community recognition (Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act,1977).
A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology or a related health discipline, with relevant professional registration or membership.
A deep understanding of the impacts of violence, abuse and neglect, and experience working in trauma‑informed practice.
Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive care in partnership with Aboriginal communities and organisations.
Proven leadership skills, with experience in mentoring, supervision and supporting culturally safe practice.
