What you'll be doing
Join our As a Carpenter – Skilled Trades, you will deliver reactive and planned maintenance services across hospital building fabric and furnishings, ensuring compliance with statutory, safety and operational standards. This role is critical to maintaining clinical uptime and minimising disruptions to healthcare services.
- Perform carpentry repairs, maintenance and inspections across hospital facilities
- Complete reactive and preventative maintenance tasks using AFM Online systems
- Ensure all works comply with WHS legislation, Australian Standards and NSW Health requirements
- Liaise with contractors, staff and stakeholders to coordinate works with minimal operational disruption
- Participate in after-hours emergency maintenance services and support broader WSLHD facilities as required

Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Qualification in carpentry with a tradesman’s certificate of competency –
Carpenter Level 1: completed apprenticeship and/or holds relevant trade certificate
Carpenter Level 2: 120 hours of approved courses completed
Carpenter Level 3: 240 hours of approved courses completed
Carpenter Level 4: 360 hours of approved courses completed
Selection Criteria:
Trade qualification in carpentry with a tradesman's certificate of competency.
Demonstrated experience working with power tools and wood cutting machinery.
Demonstrated knowledge of building and construction related Work Health and Safety guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise and successfully undertake work in a busy, dynamic role with a minimum of supervision.
Demonstrated knowledge of software programs (eg: Word, Excel, Outlook).
The ability to maintain stock and workflow in a Carpentry workshop.
