What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of a Career Medical Officer (CMO) in Anaesthesia at Blacktown-Mt Druitt Hospitals is to provide anaesthesia and perioperative medicine services, under appropriate supervision. Anaesthetic Career Medical Officers will be expected to:
• Utilise clinical knowledge and skills to manage patients intra-operatively and peri-operatively. This includes the management of low to high complexity anaesthetic / surgical / patient factors with appropriately graded supervision depending on the situation.
• Deliver anaesthesia, peri-operative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms at Blacktown and Mount-Druitt Hospitals.
• Participate as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthesia, including:
o General Anaesthesia and Sedation
o Regional Anaesthesia
o Airway Management
o Pain Medicine
o Obstetric Anaesthesia
o Peri-operative Medicine
o Resuscitation
o Trauma and Crisis Management
• The CMO is expected to provide high quality care to patients. Individual practitioners’ scope of practice may be expanded over time following recredentialing based on a demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered, or eligible for registration with the medical board of Australia
- Minimum of three (3) years of Anaesthetic experience with experience in ICU and emergency medicine.
- Able to work in Anaesthesia under appropriate supervision, and to work weekends and after-hours in the specialty area.
- Ability to work in Anaesthetics, within a complex clinical environment, displaying excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work cohesively within multi-disciplinary teams, even during complex and stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Commitment to participating in development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in anaesthesia.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
