Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. Nepean Hospital is seeking a Business Intelligence & Analytics Lead Engineer to lead the design, build and ongoing optimisation of its end‑to‑end data platform. This role is responsible for integrating and consolidating diverse on‑premises and cloud data sources into a unified, analytics ready environment, while designing and operating robust ETL/ELT pipelines across SQL Server and the evolving Snowflake (AWS/dbt) platform.
 
The successful candidate will define scalable data models and semantic layers to support high‑quality BI and analytics, embed strong data governance and performance optimisation practices, and collaborate closely with BI and Clinical Costing teams. As a technical leader, the role will mentor team members, translate clinical and business requirements into effective data solutions, and drive modern data‑engineering practices to ensure timely, reliable and trusted data for decision‑making across the District.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, Mathematics or Data Science and/or relevant equivalent professional experience. Masters degree advantageous
  2. Strong experience in one or more of the following languages: ASP.NET, MS SQL, Python, R and Scala for ETL purpose
  3. Proficiency in data modelling and design, including SQL development and database administration, database management and data warehousing, MS SSIS & SSRS. Experience in Snowflake while not mandatory is well regarded
  4. Proven skills in effectively communicating and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across a variety of specialisations and domains.
  5. Understanding of the health system and the relevant processes, systems, and regulatory requirements while not mandatory is well regarded.
