About the Opportunity
NSW Health Pathology is seeking a dynamic and strategic Associate Director, Commercial, to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to influence state-wide procurement, commercial strategy, and operational excellence within one of Australia’s largest public pathology organisations.
This role can be based in Newcastle or Sydney, with hybrid working arrangements available.
Reporting to the Director, Finance and Corporate Services, the Associate Director, Commercial will provide strategic leadership across several critical commercial functions. Your leadership will ensure NSW Health Pathology adopts a commercially sound, value-driven approach to procurement and logistics. You will also spearhead the development and implementation of business development strategies to secure future growth and strengthen NSWHP’s commercial position.

What you'll be doing
Lead the ongoing development of the Commercial Functions of NSWHP to support the strategic and operational priorities and reforms within NSW Health Pathology (NSWHP). The Associate Director Commercial Function will cover procurement, stock control, inventory management systems, specimen transportation and fleet, specimen tracking systems, contract management and Business Development. The function will also provide targeted process improvement support into laboratories to effectively deploy change in logistics practices.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated record of success in the development of effective and efficient Commercial (Procurement, Contract Management, Logistic and/or Business Development) functions for a large service organisation.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in delivery of logistics capability including contemporary procurement practices, strategic sourcing, category management, contract management and e-commerce.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing procurement within the public sector, including detailed knowledge of NSW Government procurement policies and contract management.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in delivery of a Business Development function for a large service organisation.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in delivery of innovative and effective procurement strategies and capital planning in a complex environment including skills in strategic analysis and planning.
- Demonstrated experience in providing high level, strategic advice at senior executive level and demonstrated experience in working and exercising judgement in an environment responsive to the politics of situations and the competing priorities of expectant and demanding customers and stakeholders.

ity to build, lead and motivate a team, with a performance based, innovative, responsive and accountable customer service culture.
