We are seeking a motivated, experienced, and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dedicated and highly supportive ED team as a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 (CNC1) ASET (Aged Care Services Emergency Team) on a temporary part time basis. You will be working Friday to Sunday day shifts with opportunities to negotiate roster.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced clinician who is passionate about improving outcomes for older persons and delivering person-centred, evidence-based care in line with NSW Health’s Principles for Care of Older People and the NSW Health Aged Care and Emergency Department Clinical Frameworks.

Ryde Hospital- Emergency Department

 
Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.

Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.

What you'll be doing
In this pivotal CNC1 role, you will provide expert clinical leadership, consultancy, and coordination of care for older persons presenting to the Emergency Department and across care interfaces.
Working in alignment with the NSW Health Clinical Nurse Consultant role domains (clinical service and consultancy, leadership, research, education, and clinical services planning), you will:
- Collaborate closely with Emergency Department staff, key clinicians, and external aged care and service providers.
- Support timely, appropriate, and safe care pathways for older patients.
- Facilitate comprehensive geriatric assessment and care planning.
- Promote avoidance of unnecessary hospital admissions where clinically appropriate, consistent with NSW Health’s focus on community-based care.
- Contribute to service innovation, quality improvement, and patient flow strategies.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience. In addition, the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification and substantial relevant experience to the specialty or other qualifications or experience relevant to the specialty. 
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and people from Government and Non-government agencies.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
