Join the Allied Health team across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, supporting Occupational Therapy services that help patients maximise their functional independence. You’ll work alongside experienced health professionals in a collaborative environment where your contribution directly supports patient care.

What you'll be doing 
As an Allied Health Assistant, you’ll work under the direction and supervision of Occupational Therapists to support the delivery of effective therapy programs and help patients achieve their functional goals.

• Assist with individual and group therapy, exercise and education programs

• Support patients to maximise functional independence through therapy

• Observe and report changes in patient function, progress and presentation

• Accurately document attendance, therapy activities and objective observations

• Manage allocated workloads and communicate effectively with the healthcare team

Essential Criteria

• Qualification: Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is preferred. 

Selection Criteria

1. Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance/relevant qualification

2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders

3. Demonstrated previous experience working in a health environment

4. Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing member of the allied health team

5. Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload delegated by supervising AHP’s, meet deadlines and complete activities within scope of practice, seeking assistance as required

6. Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications

7. Knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and principles and how it applies to the duties of the position

8. Demonstrated ability to work with disabled and or aged clients in a service or professional care giving capacity, in a positive manner enhancing the client’s ability to achieve positive outcomes and personal goals
