Allied Health Assistant
Dubbo Health Service

About the role
Experienced Allied Health Assistant or looking to start in healthcare – this is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and begin a career in NSW Health.  Relevant Allied Health Assistant qualifications or experience are welcome, but not essential.

Allied Health Assistants work alongside healthcare professionals such as Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists to support patient care and help services run smoothly.  It’s a growing career area with opportunities to build skills and work across many different parts of healthcare.

We are looking for someone who is friendly, caring and motivated to learn, to join our Nutrition & Dietetics team. If you enjoy working with people, have an interest in food, nutrition and health and want a role where you can learn on the job, this could be a great place to start.

In this role, you will work with Dietitians to help hospital patients get the right meals and drinks for their health needs. This includes helping patients choose meals, checking food orders and making sure the kitchen has the right information.

This role also includes assisting with administration, and you will need to feel confident using computers, email and Microsoft programs, and be able to learn new systems.

One of the best things about becoming an Allied Health Assistant is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in healthcare, work closely with health professionals and build skills that can open doors across many areas of health.

This role could suit someone starting out in healthcare, looking for a career change or wanting experience before further study.  There may also be opportunities to complete formal Allied Health Assistant qualifications as part of your career development.

You will be required to work on a rotating 7-day roster, including afternoon shifts, weekends and public holidays, and be rewarded with significant penalty rates – PM shifts +10-12.5%, Sat +50%, Sun +75%, Public holidays +150%.  You’ll also have access salary packaging where you can pay less tax, plus join Fitness Passport.

This is an amazing opportunity – don’t miss out!
