Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is an acute hospital that supports a population of approximately 80,000 and is the only ANZAC Memorial hospital remaining in NSW. Easily accessible to Sydney residents, our team of clinicians, allied health, and support staff works with the community on a shared goal to maintain the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Blue Mountains region.
We are seeking an experienced After Hours Nurse Manager to provide leadership, coordination and oversight of hospital operations during evenings, nights and weekends. This pivotal role ensures the seamless continuation of high‑quality care by managing clinical activity, staffing resources and operational workflows outside regular business hours.
In this role, you will oversee and manage operational resources to maintain effective and efficient health service provision, ensuring that patient care needs are met within available capacity. You will be responsible for the deployment of personnel on a shift‑by‑shift basis, including the coordination of casual and agency staff, to maintain safe and appropriate staffing levels across all areas. A key focus of the position is monitoring staffing requirements, bed occupancy and patient acuity, while coordinating the utilisation of beds to support timely access for patients in line with organisational strategies.

What you will bring to the role
- Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Relevant tertiary qualification in management and/or extensive post-graduate clinical and management experience in the acute health care setting.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrating motivation, delegation, negotiation and knowledge with clinical experience of evidence based acute health assessment, treatment and care.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, manage resources and drive change effectively with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
- Computer literacy including working knowledge of staff scheduling systems HealthRoster
- Understanding of and commitment to ETP, bed management/patient flow objectives in an acute health setting, with the ability to resolve complex problems in a timely manner and demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of information technology systems to support bed management and Patient Flow
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage complex, competing and challenging situations, including clinical and corporate risk in a timely manner
- High level verbal and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to act as a change agent and lead organisational change in patient care, with knowledge of current nursing practice at a local, national and international level.
