About the Role

Concord Repatriation General Hospital has a well-earned reputation for excellence in healthcare for over 70 years. Building on its proud heritage of caring for the Veteran community, the hospital now services the local communities of Concord, Strathfield, Burwood and beyond.

  

The Aboriginal Employment and Engagement Advisor will work closely with the Aboriginal Workforce Manager supporting the development and implementation of workforce strategies for Aboriginal recruitment, retention, career and professional development for current and future Aboriginal staff including: 

  • Aboriginal Traineeships
  • Aboriginal School Based Traineeships
  • Targeted recruitment
  • Identified Recruitment

  

This role will provide education information, advice and support to managers and staff to develop awareness, capability and confidence in the recruitment and inclusion of people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people.

Ideal Candidates

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or extensive experience in a large and diverse service industry organisation, or a combination of study and work experience in a relevant/related discipline. 
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of Aboriginal Workforce challenges within the workplace. Previous experience in recruitment and selection activities within Health or relevant field would be highly regarded. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to uphold ethical workplace practices including confidentiality, recognising when to escalate matters and declaring potential conflicts of interest, whilst maintaining appropriate records. 
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategies, policies, education programs or projects aimed at enhancing employment outcomes. 

  

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such.
