At Macarthur Community Mental Health, this role offers the opportunity to walk alongside Aboriginal people, families and communities in a way that honours culture, connection and lived experience. You will support Aboriginal clients on their mental health journey by providing culturally safe, recovery focused care that recognises the whole person, including family, community, identity and Country. This role is about more than clinical work — it is about building trust, strengthening connections and helping our mob feel safe, respected and supported when accessing mental health services. You will work closely with community, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and Aboriginal Medical Services to improve access to care, promote social and emotional wellbeing and strengthen culturally appropriate mental health services across South Western Sydney. Your contribution will help shape services that reflect Aboriginal voices, strengths and resilience, while supporting better outcomes for individuals, families and future generations.
Are You the Right Fit?
This role is for an Aboriginal person who is passionate about supporting mob and committed to delivering culturally safe, respectful and recovery oriented mental health care. You value working in partnership with families, community and multidisciplinary teams, and you bring a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, kinship and community ways of being. You are comfortable advocating for Aboriginal people within health systems and contributing an Aboriginal cultural perspective to assessment, care planning, treatment and discharge processes. You are willing to continue building your skills and confidence as a mental health professional, with education, training, supervision and support actively encouraged by the service. Selection Criteria

1. In this role being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is a genuine occupational requirement. Tell us about your mob and connection to culture?
2. Willingness and ability to complete further education in Mental Health or relevant qualification (refer to position description)?
3. Tell us about your experience supporting Aboriginal people, families or communities. This could be through work, community involvement or lived experience. In your response, describe how you worked in a culturally safe and respectful way and how you supported people to access the right help or services.
4. Can you share an example of how you have worked with other people or services, such as health workers, community organisations or Aboriginal services, to support wellbeing or mental health? In your response, describe how you communicated, worked as part of a team, and helped connect people to supports that met their needs.
5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
