Position Title: Aboriginal Mental Health Clinical Lead (HM3) - The Forensic Hospital - PFT

The Role
The Aboriginal Forensic Mental Health Clinical Lead provides senior clinical and strategic leadership to embed culturally safe, recovery-oriented care for Aboriginal people within the Forensic Hospital and the broader forensic mental health system. The role ensures a strong Aboriginal cultural voice at senior management level, guides culturally informed clinical practice and service development, and works collaboratively with staff, patients, families, carers, and communities to improve Aboriginal patient experiences and outcomes while building and supporting the Aboriginal mental health workforce. The position works collaboratively with other Aboriginal Clinical Leads to develop strategies that strengthen culturally safe care and improve outcomes for Aboriginal people. It also focuses on building and maintaining strong partnerships with key stakeholders to deliver coordinated, system-wide strategies that enable culturally safe pathways of care.
Essential Requirements
- This is an identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. Applicants must be able to demonstrate Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being an Aboriginal person and being accepted in the community as such. Confirmation of Aboriginality is required with appropriate paperwork.
- A tertiary qualification recognised by NSW Health in Nursing, Allied Health or Djirruwang Program.
- Current unrestricted NSW Driver License and valid Working with Children Check.
Our Location and Service
The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients.
A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals provide care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care, to long stay and rehabilitation care.
