About the Role
The Harm Reduction Program provides a number of services that aim to reduce the transmission of blood borne viruses. This includes the Needle and Syringe Program, which is an evidence based public health program that provides sterile injecting equipment, peer support and healthcare navigation to people who inject drugs. Additionally, the Primary Health Care service offers multidisplinary assessment, treatment and referral for vulnerable people including those who inject drugs.

Ideal Candidate
- This is an identified Aboriginal position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Hold or aspire to hold, a minimum certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary care or a minimum certificate III health qualification in drug and alcohol.
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and demonstrated awareness of cross-cultural issues.
- Demonstrated experience working in drug and alcohol treatment settings.
- Demonstrated experience working across agencies on projects/programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the harm reduction approach to drug use.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and work independently.
- Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills with high level verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy.
- Holds a Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
