About the Role

Sydney Local Health District is one of the fastest growing Local Health Districts in New South Wales. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring. 

  

The primary role of this position is to develop, implement and evaluate prevention and health promotion programs targeting priority population groups including Aboriginal communities, as stipulated in local, state and national strategies. Working collaboratively with key clinical and non-clinical partners, to improve access to healthcare services and reduce health inequalities experienced by Aboriginal communities in Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is central to the position.    

  

You will work across a range of programs across Population Health including sexual health, blood-borne viruses, healthy eating & living, cancer screening and other identified health needs.

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977.  

 

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in a health, community or educational setting. 
  • Good understanding of the relevant NSW strategies and social determinants of health affecting Aboriginal communities in SLHD. 
  • Experience of planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion and/or community development projects. 
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
