As the Aboriginal Health Manager at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Aboriginal health services by providing strategic leadership, influencing key decisions, and ensuring Aboriginal voices, perspectives, and priorities are embedded within service planning and delivery. 

Working as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will have the opportunity to lead meaningful change, strengthen culturally safe models of care, and contribute to the implementation of Aboriginal health initiatives that align with National, State, and District priorities. Your expertise, cultural knowledge, and leadership will help drive improved health outcomes and support the ongoing commitment to Closing the Gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This role offers the chance to build and strengthen partnerships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, and a broad range of stakeholders. Through genuine engagement and collaboration, you will help create services that are responsive to community needs, culturally respectful, and focused on achieving better outcomes for Aboriginal people and families.

You are a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who brings a deep understanding of culture, community, and the importance of delivering health services that are respectful, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal people. Grounded in cultural knowledge and lived experience, you are committed to strengthening the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities through genuine engagement, collaboration, and advocacy. Your identity, values, and cultural awareness enable you to build trust, foster meaningful relationships, and ensure Aboriginal voices and perspectives are reflected in decision-making processes and service delivery.

You possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal health, health service management, or a related field, complemented by extensive experience in Aboriginal health leadership within large and complex organisations. You have demonstrated success in providing strategic leadership and expert advice on Aboriginal health matters, driving the implementation of strategic priorities, enhancing service delivery, and developing sustainable partnerships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, community-controlled organisations, and key stakeholders.

You are a highly respected and capable leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Your ability to consult, negotiate, influence, and collaborate with diverse groups allows you to achieve positive outcomes while maintaining culturally safe and respectful relationships. You have a proven capacity to lead teams, empower others, and foster environments that value cultural integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Your strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills enable you to effectively manage complex workloads, balance competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes within required timeframes. You are experienced in designing, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on Aboriginal health initiatives, policies, and strategies that improve models of care, strengthen organisational performance, and contribute to better health outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

In addition, you demonstrate advanced computer literacy across a range of software applications, including word processing, data management systems, and spreadsheets, allowing you to support evidence-based planning, reporting, and performance monitoring. Holding a current driver's licence and a willingness to travel as required, you are committed to engaging directly with communities and stakeholders to ensure health services remain culturally responsive, accessible, and focused on Closing the Gap in health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
