Young Person Peer Worker - Adolescent Mental Health Unit

What you will bring to the role:

1. Personal Lived experience of significant mental health challenges and demonstrated recovery, with the ability to meaningfully and safely draw upon this experience to support young people with complex mental health needs
2. Willingness to work in acute mental health service and a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (carer) or readiness to work towards completing; or qualifications in health or other relevant qualification, e.g. degree, diploma or certificate
3. Ability to engage and build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds in a compassionate and respectful manner.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
5. Understanding of recovery-oriented mental health principles and the unique contribution of peer support roles. Knowledge of the state and national policies and directives that inform mental health services.
6. Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice in all peer work. This includes evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE values of our organisations and the NSW Code of Conduct with all stakeholders including families, colleagues and others.
7. Computer competence and literacy including use of health database systems and associated programs
8. Willingness to be flexible within the role including ability to work after-hours and weekends or attend other CYF-MH work sites as role demands.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
