About The Role:
Join the team at John Hunter Hospital, a Level 6 tertiary referral, major trauma, and teaching hospital within NSW’s largest local health district. Serving a diverse population of over 900,000 across the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast regions, we’re committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care — and we’re looking for dedicated Patient Support Assistants to help us make a difference every day.
As a valued member of our team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients, staff, and hospital operations. You’ll work collaboratively across departments, ensuring patients receive the best possible experience in a safe, efficient, and respectful environment.
- Providing high-quality care and assistance to patients at John Hunter Hospital. 
- Communicating effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and staff. 
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across all hospital units. 
- Assisting nursing staff with patient care and comfort. 
- Transporting patients and their belongings safely throughout the hospital — including to medical imaging, pathology, and between wards. 
- Transferring deceased patients to the mortuary with dignity and professionalism. 
- Performing general cleaning and support duties as required. 
- Maintaining a professional standard of practice and adhering to all HNELHD policies and procedures.
