War Memorial Hospital (WMH) is a 3rd Schedule Aged Rehabilitation hospital, situated in Waverley, owned and operated by Uniting and part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). Services are comprised of 24-hour inpatient care, Monday to Friday outpatient departments, iREAP Day Rehabilitation program, several specialist community teams inclusive of Transitional Aged Care, Geriatric Flying Squad, Young Onset Dementia, Day Centre Program, 24-hour accommodation service for regional guests and the full range of hospital support services. It is set within beautiful tranquil grounds and is a well-supported team environment.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide safe transport to clients attending the War Memorial Hospital Day Centre and to provide support with the smooth running of the Day Centre therapy program, including bus outings, under the guidance of the Day Centre Program and Transport Services Manager and therapy staff. There is a strong focus on customer service and teamwork, consistent with WMH, SESLHD and Uniting policies, procedures and standards

 

This position is part time fixed term contract until 18th December 2026. Specific days are Monday, Tuesday & Friday.

Please address all SELECTION CRITERIA questions :

 

  1. Current NSW Driving License Class LR or above
  2. Previous experience driving 22-seater buses (i.e. Toyota Coaster bus)
  3. Previous experience transporting elderly people & transporting people on wheelchairs (desirable).
  4. Previous experience of working with people with dementia (desirable).
  5. Demonstrated ability to organise bus routes to maximise efficiency.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
  1. Proven interpersonal, computer, written, and verbal communication skills with an ability to communicate across all levels and departments both within War Memorial Hospital, Uniting and with external stakeholders.

  2. Knowledge of and understanding of Work Health Safety & Manual Handling principles.

 

All Category A NSW Health workers are required to have received an annual seasonal Influenza vaccination or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. COVID-19 vaccinations are strongly recommended for all NSW Health workers.
